Limping after a walk

I hope someone can help me out, Roycie and I went for a long walk during a really hot day, the next day he was limping?

I figured his muscles were sore from walking so much or his paws were hurting from the pavement, but I always put paw balm prior to going for walks.

It's been 3 days now and he doesn't really wanna walk outside. His paws are a bit red but he's not licking it. I was squeezing and looking around his paws and he yelped and does not want me to touch his paws at all!

Ive searched around and people were recommending doing a paw soak? What type of paw soak can I do for something like this?

Has anyone ever had his happen before and what can I do?

A long walk can cause cuts in the pads, blisters from hot pavement, dislocated toes, the list goes on. IMO visit a vet to determine the best course of action.
  • My Mackenzie has extremely thin/tender pads. If the pavement is hot to my feet I walk her on grass otherwise her pads get burned, she will also walk/play so much that the next day she will limp, this goes away after a day of rest. On weekends when she gets more exercise because we are home she actually has a naptime where we put her in her crate for an hour of rest otherwise she will play the entire day and will limp the next day. I do recommend the vet at first that's what we did not we are aware of her limits.

Also, check the length of the toenails... our minibull terrier's grow very fast. They can curl and make it painful to walk so we have his trimmed quite frequently
