Cheza

Hi my Geordie has developed a red patch on chest which hes scratching at & has started chewing his feet manically!! Hes 3yrs old, always been fed on raw diet (natures menu) had no problems with skin till last few weeks! Tried antihistamines, bathing in warm salted water, sudocrem, dog tea tree balm & liverine salve all to no avail. He isn't unwell in himself just scratching!! 2nd bullie we've had & other one wasn't allergic to anything had a lead stomache too. So at a bit of a loss, any suggestions welcome, thanx xx

  • Have you added any new meat sources into his diet,I would of thought if it was allergies the red patch wouldn't just be on his chest,my old girl suffered with terrible allergies and I had to watch what raw I fed her,but Liam my 9 month old can eat anything and so far no allergies but it is early days.Perhaps it would be an idea to pop him along to the vets in case he has a skin infection
  • Maybe it's a yeast infection ? My mom's bully is constantly getting them on her belly. She has very short bristly fur compared to my dog's coat. His is much silkier and longer. He has a soft fine undercoat too and she doesn't. He only gets trouble with his paws and she has problems from her tail base to her chin.

Certainly sounds like a Yeast issue.

  • My dogs get yeast in the ears! When they start getting itchy or thin coat its time for a a good shower/very good rinse. Soap/rinse soap/rinse rinse rinse.

By the way most soaps are not half what they used to be (government reducing caustic). If your dog has a wet dog smell after they are not clean! Dawn is still half good.
