Skin condition

Hello all,
I’m relatively new here and have a 9 month EBT. I know they tend to get a lot of skin conditions so I have tried not to panic and after reading some posts I’ve not gone straight to the vets as thought it could be something to do with him running round in fields / pollen etc... but my EBT has red lumps and bumps on his nose area, no where else, so my first thought was that he shoved his nose somewhere, stinging nettles or it was a reaction to some plants in a field. But he’s had them a couple of days now, whilst they’ve not got worse, they’ve not disappeared. He’s our first EBT and I tend to panic over situations like this. We’ve already had unnecessary vet bills due to my panicking so I was just after a bit of advice please. He’s on a raw food diet, has been since before we got him, we’ve not changed his diet or anything like that.

http://www.bulliesofnc.com/BTforum/discussion/3280/itchy-paws#latest This is a link to a similar problem. There is no definitive answer. Since yours is nose related. I would be thinking allergies. The thought of him sticking his nose somewhere he shouldn't have is a good start. It may be something as simple as not tolerating the raw diet or something more complicated. EBT's are complicating little buggers. Good luck in finding the cause of the irritation.
  • Thanks. He doesn’t seem bothered by it, no itching or licking etc... and it only appeared the day before last. Thinking it will probably entail a trip to the vets to get it checked out. But I just don’t like all the chemical stuff they try to palm off on you
  • Could he have a teenage acne I know a friend of mine who has 2 Bull terriers one of them had this in so many words the vet said it was teenage acne, sudocrem helped her boy out
  • Maybe you should try some Benadryl ,if it's an allergy it might help . I have 2 with allergy issues and it helps them .
  • Thank you, that’s great, never really thought about acne. It does seem to be a bit less today, or not as harsh, so haven’t taken him to the vets. he’s his usual EBT self and we walked him away from one of the fields today to see if we can try and eliminate that.
I know sudocrem is good, but I never used it on my kids because of the paraffin and chemicals in it, might see if I can find a natural alternative though.
Don’t suppose anyone has any recommendations for that? I saw someone write on a different website that coconut oil can be used in them, but when I investigated coconut stuff for dogs, I read it can mess up their digestive system etc...
  • Yes coconut oil in solid form is very good about £3 in B&M retail, don't give it to him to eat use it as a topical cream
