Miniature Bull Terrier

Hi everyone. I have a 6.5 month old miniature bull terrier. He is growing like a weed. He is 17" high at the shoulders, 32 pounds and growing! I'm worried that he may not be a miniature. I love him to bits and I'll keep him no matter how big he gets, but I got a mini knowing I would be able to pick him up. I'm a woman in my 50s, in decent shape, but could not pick up a 50 or 60 pound dog. (Don't worry; he gets tons of exercise, plenty of interaction with other dogs, I have a huge backyard and I work from home.) Does anyone have any experience with large minis and what their potential for growth is? Thank you!

He is Beautiful ! I have a mini that is on the large side she is 2 and weighs 42lbs she is a total lap dog but picking her up is not something I do a lot .

Thanks for your response and photo of Mackenzie, Corey! She is beautiful! I'm hoping that once Victor calms down a bit and is further along in his training the need to pick him up will become less of an issue. I expect he's still got some growing to do.

Well, just because they're called "mini" that does not mean that they are "pocket dogs".
Mini basically means "not as big 'n heavy as a regular one". That's all.
They all are pretty “dense” and packed with muscle by nature, which is why even the smaller individuals weigh more than other dog breeds of comparable size/ shoulder height.
Our last regular Bull Terrier was often taken for a mini because she was pretty tiny and lightweight for a Bull Terrier.
Still, her 45lbs were not something I'd try to carry around a lot.
While they think they ARE indeed lap dogs - no matter their size and weight - they really are not in the actual sense - regardless if mini or regular.
But with proper training it should also not be necessary to carry them around all the time.

Thanks, DJammy! Yes, I guess I expected Victor to reach about 14" max in shoulder height and fill out from there. But he's way past that already. Right now he's quite tall with slim legs. Obviously I'll love him to bits no matter how big he gets. Here's a picture of him desperately trying to win over my cat. @90260 Haha, I know; I'm dreaming...

Thanks @corey90260 ! Gabriel, my cat, is doing a better job of training Victor than I am. V's poor little nose ended up with a few scratches when he was small. Here's a picture of him fearlessly attempting to play with Gabriel who somehow got cornered in Victor's crate. I'm hoping they will be best buds someday but we've got a ways to go before that happens.

What a great pic,Sally was amazed by our cat when she was younger but soon realised he was boring the cat now gets completely ignored
