YOoo

Hello, glad to join you all as a proud BT pops. It’s been a childhood dream n wasn’t sure when or if it was ever going to happen. It’s been 7 months in and Bowser has been a blessing. Yes I even picked his name as a child Lol. Born 5/5 so far weighing 44.5.
I accidently landied on Strickly Bull Terriers a fseveral years ago and have continuously looked forward to tune in to everyone’s discussions. This forum has served well, an excellent resource and educational. Thank you all!

  • OMG Bowser is gorgeous he is a credit to you
  • Thanks, we appreciate the kind compliments.

Right out the gate we decided to feed Victor Grain Free and Grizzly(Thanks to a bit of research and Mr. Gogulski’s endorsement of the brand I decided confidently) I compliment it with Primal Raw Frozen and Bone Broth. Infrequently, Clover Low-fat plain Greek yogourt, cottage cheese and raw eggs. I also use fruits for treats.

I have very pleased with his development and Bowser absolutely loves meal time. Am I doing too much? How safe are we continuing to feed on the Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and raw eggs or how infrequent should we be? Finally, with more recent reports (FDA) of Grain Free, or specifically sweet potatoes for those of us that feed Victor Grain Free, should we be concerned about the “potential” link to the development of heart dilated cardiomyopathy?
I have considered switching to Hi-Pro Plus followed by Professional or Nutra Pro. (Grain free has been more of preventative choice but otherwise Bowser hasn’t shown any signs of allergies)
I haven’t done any extensive follow up to this report, wondering if anyone here can enlighten me with your knowledge about these subjects.

Bowser looks like he's in great shape. Keep him on the Victor and supplement him with many form of raw meats, veggies, fish, fruit, etc. Do NOT listen to the garbage online about grainfree foods causing heart issues. "Grainfree" means that the food has no grain which is a good thing. The ingredients in every food varies and the word "Grainfree" should not be associated with foods to avoid.

  • Sorry I should have mentioned that it was more specifically related to Grain Free containing legumes, white potatoes, sweet potatoes* ... Nonetheless, I was hoping you would chime in; thank you for the reassuring feedback!
