Growth plate injury

Hi guys, a friend of mine has a puppy, Rico, that randomly started limping at the dog park and has now been diagnosed with a growth plate injury through x-ray. She has just been through this last June with her other EBT Django, who went through surgery and has finally recovered only a few weeks ago.
She is at a total loss with Rico, and her husband is very upset saying he’d almost rather put him down then pay and go though surgery with another puppy.
I’m trying to help as much as I can, even willing to help cover the cost!
My question to anyone here is if they have gone through a growth plate injury and have any other options besides surgery? Django’s was definitely necessary as his was completely detached (see x-ray), but if you look at Rico’s his is barely.
Are there other options to fix minor growth plate injuries besides costly and mentally traumatic surgery to owner and puppy?
Thanks for any and all thoughts.

There really isn't many other options other than the required medical procedures to repair the damages sustained. There certainly is a lot of preventative things that can and should have been done to prevent such injuries which seem to be reoccurring with this same owner. These type of injuries are actually pretty rare which has me wondering if there is a genetic issue within the bloodline of this owners dogs or if the owner is just irresponsible and has very bad luck.
