cracked and dry paws

hi guys,

I just noticed that little hector has really two dry paws with large cracks in the pads. The other two pas are fine, not dry and soft.
any idea what would be causing this? should i put some vaseline or olive oil on them to moisten them ?

Mine has the same issue on her front paws . The vet says she has very thin pads , it's much worse in the summer when the ground is hotter so that they burn. Its like a callus and it slowly falls off .

I use bag balm, mushers secret, and a paw plunger to do a soak in medicated shampoo when inflamed, salt water when just rough and dry. I soak and dry the paw then rub a good glob in. You can get these little disposable paw booties with band aid type pad inside which helps me keep the goo on the paw longer. Dexter licks the stuff off as soon as I start putting it on another foot unless I cover it right away.

I'D say he skinned the pad off. Had one dog I couldn't throw his ball if he was on asphalt! He would skin them Straight off! Too Much horse power!
