Thinking of getting Titan a lil brother/partner in crime

So Titan is going on 11 months & is the only dog/pet so we are considering getting this lil guy to be his lil brother/partner in crime. Same breeder we got Titan from so they have the same dad just different moms!! I put a baby pic & 3 more recent pics 10 weeks 25lbs!! Also included another pic of Titan!!

He's a cutie but then again aren't they all. :)

I think having a playmate for Titan is a great idea. However, 2 males can often be challenging depending on how good their temperament is. Dominance can become problematic. I wish you luck though.

  • I’ve kept many miles together and at times it can really be a challenge

I would not chose to do it again

My male and female at times even get into it

With that said I think the dogs look great and I wish you much luck

    beautiful dogs
  • Meant to say males not miles
  • Thanks for the info and good luck wishes. I’m/we are hoping since he is from the same dad/breeder that his temperament will be just like Titans laid back chill & doesn’t try to be dominant. The only time Titan has ever tried to show dominance with any dog is with a pit bull that got overly aggressive/attempted to attack him at the dog park. Otherwise he’s energetic playful & semi submissive but holds his own with large male dogs.
  • Will both males be kept in tact ?
  • That’s the plan unless they get aggressive or unruly then the plan is to neuter them at around 1.5 - 2 yrs of age per advice from a few BT breeders I’ve talked to about neutering who’s recommendation is to let them fully develop size wise before neutering to prevent health issues as they age.
  • Titan is my first EBT so I’ve had to do a lot of research & learning as he grown the past 7 months & made some great friends in the EBT World/breeders/dog trainers who’s advice & expertise I trust.
  • I don’t neuter males and my female is still intact also

It’s a little more work but I believe worth it

Why another male and not a female ?

I’ve raised powerful aggressive dogs my whole life and done the two male deal many times ....I’m done doing it

If they start fighting even fixing them does not always stop the issues

They could be best of buddies ....I’ve never had that even between sons and fathers or they could be full on trying to kill each other

Than you need to be able to keep them seperated etc and that takes proper setup and room

Not trying to scare you but I’ve seen to many people getting into these kind of breeds end up not understanding exactly what they have and problems ensue

One will usually try and dominate and than even if they aren’t fight*ng one is being dominated and technically abused

Neutering has zero effect on helping out a dominance issue. The only thing neutering will do is cause the dog to be a few ounces lighter in weight. However, if the choice is to neuter the correct time frame would be upon full maturity. So whoever recommended 1 1/2 - 2 years is correct. It's good you have some people you trust that you feel to have a great deal of knowledge and experience with the breed. It shocks me that these same people didn't convince you that getting a female for your next dog would be a much smarter choice.

  • They have mentioned it might be better to get a female as the second dog but also have said if there is no female present in the house they didnt feel there should be a huge problem with dominance. They also said introducing them properly & monitoring their behavior together/not allowing one to become dominant is extremely important. I don’t want to neuter Titan or the new male that I’m going to purchase and the only reason I asked those I trust about what is the proper age/time to do it is because my vet & dog trainer have pushed for it since he was 3 months using the fact he’s/ a Bully Breed & will get aggressive/dominant as he ages as reasons for their force/push in the matter so I wanted good info to provide an educated argument to there reasoning & constant push for neutering Titan any future Bully Breed puppy I purchase.
  • Do not neuter him

    For many reasons

It is a disgrace how vets push neutering to responsible dog owners

Not trying to tell you what to do but I’ve been in this game a long time and my advice would be to get your boy a female friend and keep him intact

My male and female are both intact and I just seperate them during her heat cycle

People are lazy and they have been brainwashed by the veterinarian community to Dewey everything at 6 months to a disgrace

A responsible pet owner does not need to desex their animals

It is very difficult for a neutered male to keep this kind of lean muscle mass among many things. Their biggest argument is that it avoids testicular cancer. That means we should all males should remove their testicals including you and I. It’s ridiculous

Also imagine if at 10 years old your parents would have taken off your testicles. Do you think you would reach the same physical maturity that you have ?

  • Yeah I have no plans to neuter him & thanks to the info you & bulliesofnc has provided and talking with the breeder I trust most I’ve decided to pass on a second male & get a female from their upcoming litter & do just as you say separate them during her heat cycles. I appreciate the feed back & experise as I’m a new Bully owner & want to do what is most responsible & will keep me from having dominance/fighting/aggressive behavior so we can have a happy safe multiple bull terrier home/family!! <img src="http://www.bulliesofnc.com/BTforum/uploads/Uploader/50/cf33be179d9ed3aecfa6c316d6b91a.jpeg" />

  • More people should take the time to research things as you are doing

Good for you and your handsome pup
  • I just want to be a great EBT owner I grew up with labs so he’s my first EBT & I’ve fallen in love with him & the breed!!
