Fine yesterday, today vomiting, not eating or drinking, lethargic

Seeking advice from anyone who's had vomiting issues with their mini bull from eating who knows what. I'm a new mommy to 8 month old Peewee who has been vomiting all day, not eating, drinking or going potty since this afternoon. I've been collecting the things he's been vomiting...leaves, straw, small pieces of wood, thread and what appears to be the corner of a sponge. We keep a pretty watchful eye so I think he's picked most of these items up when running with our ACD...I've read mini bulls eat everything but I didn't think they REALLY ate everything! I have a vet appt in the AM so hopefully it's not too serious, I've only had him for 2 months! What have others done in situations like this? What was the outcome?

Thank you!!

  • How did the vet visit go ? Yes they eat everything ! I have a mini she is now 1 year old ,we got her at 5 months ( rescue) . We have spent time in emergency getting x rays , we have had days of throwing up . Mine has never stopped eating, drinking or going potty . I can't even tell you the times we have had to check her poop to make sure she passed something she ate. I will tell you that at 1 she is a little better but she still needs be watched and when we are not at home she is crated. The picture is of my 3 Mackenzie the mini bull terrier ,Blue the pit bull and Ziggy the pit bull mix.

  • Pee Wee ended up having emergency surgery yesterday but is doing well and we might be able to bring him home today. They found 23" of sting stuff and pieces of plastic, which I am lead to believe are remnants of a tug rope and who knows about the plastic pieces. I attached the x ray, the stick looking part on the right is what a normal intestine looks like and the cloudy mass to the left was the issue, the spots around the cloudy part are gas bubbles which are normal. Thankfully I didn't wait to take him in, the plastic pieces could have ruptured the intestine, which would have been life threatening.

Soooo in conclusion, they really do eat everything! No more toys with out close adult supervision and no more running a muck with Lilo, our ACD.

Thank you for your feed back, enjoy the pics!

  • First off CUTEST puppy ever in the last picture :) So this is my biggest fear and we have been lucky so far . This is why the only toy Mackenzie gets now is the black kong it's they only toy she hasn't been able to consume although she did tear the top piece off . I have a flirt pole as well but she likes the kong better. So glad he is better ...

Happy to hear you found out what the issue was and your Bullie is on the road to recovery. I can't say I've never been through this myself. Surgery is expensive to remove an object from their stomach. I had a male a few years back decide it would be a good idea to chew through an electrical cord that was plugged in. I'm not sure if he got shocked but he certainly chewed right through the wire leaving about a foot of open wire which was still plugged in. A small piece of the wire lodged in his stomach which needed to be removed surgically. Not fun but he bounced back within a couple days as if it was no big deal.

  • Peewee update...brought him home yesterday, have to keep up on some meds for regurgitation and pain but other than that you wouldn't know anything was wrong. I opted for an old tee shirt vs. the cone of shame (even though he looks hilarious in it) to keep him from his incision. Probably have a check up in a week, he has a whole new fan club at the vet now too.
