Miss Ruby and her recent diagnosis
Ruby has been diagnosed with a dermoid sinus on top of her head.
Has anyone had experience with d.s?
It seems to be pretty rare especially because of it’s location, & for the breed itself.
I’m a little worried, id just like to know if anybody has had to deal with one before.

I can't say I've ever heard or seen a Bull Terrier with this before. The reason why I ask about the test performed is because I have a funny feeling your Vet may have made an assumption and misdiagnosed her.
Let me ask you something. Is this spot on her head right at the very top center? Does the spot feel hard to the touch? Very short hair and almost bald? Dry flaky skin?
Can you provide a photo? I'm curious if it's a different condition that is fairly common with some Bull Terriers.
There are two scent glands on a Bull Terrier. One at the base of the tail and one on the top of their head. These glands can get clogged, infected, and dried out which cause a bald spot.

I’ve read of a couple of Bt’s having them. They are more typical in Rhodesian ridgebacks..
Right now it’s not causing a problem. The protocol is to surgically remove the whole sinus.. I’m a bit afraid to have it done. I’d like to have an mri on her to see how deep it goes, but simply can not afford it at this time.. my plan was to just keep the area clean to avoid infections that could potentially go to her spine or brain..
I’d like to know if anybody has delt with one where they did not opt for surgery.
here is a link i found on a veterinarian forum.

I’ll keep posted if anything changes with it.
Hopefully I won’t have to post back.
Other than that she is perfectly healthy and happy!
