Won't walk.

Hello everyone. New to the forum as I've just found it! It's great. I've just got a new English bull terrier pup he's just over 3 months old now. Had him for a month. His name is Eric.
Me and my wife are having trouble when it comes to walkies! He basically doesn't. Walk. He sits on the floor. The I walk of ahead, bend down he comes to me as I offer a treat, then say well done and respect process. This goes on for about 15 - 20 minutes until he got some reason snaps out of it and walks? The strange thing is I've taken him off the lead in park and he walks fine, stays by my side or at a comfortable distance. Comes when called unless there is another dog or child in close range. Any ideas?
Thanks
Bill

"It's not just a Dog, it's a Bull Terrier!"

I think most Bullies go through this phase, mine did it for a couple of months.
Lots of patience required and plenty of treats.
He's just a baby, getting the hang of walking on a lead takes a while for this breed.
I found that using a long rope on the lead to give him a bit more space was helpful, but hey...sometimes i just had to pick him up and put him in a bag and carry him home.
Plenty of strange looks from folks passing by.
Mine went from one extreme to the other. Stubborn as a mule, and now he pulls like a steam train.....gotta love 'em
As his confidence grows with age,. He'll find his own rewards by continuing the walk, new smells, new faces new surroundings.
If he gets really intimidated by noises of city life, Take him somewheres off the concrete. The woods, park, the beach,. The natural surroundings away from the commotion of cars and people here s natural curiosity will take over.
But never force a puppy to do anything. Make them think it's their own decision,. Or they will forever view that action in a negative light.
Worked with my two as puppies
