Puppy and older EBT

We have a female Bully she is 5 we have moved to a larger plot with a fairly big garden. She was very social with dogs in her puppy days and again when she was 3 but unfortunately the other dog that was with us had to leave. She has been an only dog for 2 years now an we got a puppy on Monday the 31 July. It is a male Bully. Are there any suggestions on interaction with them. So far the female has kept her distance smelling him from time to time the occasional growl to tell him off. The Female will occasionally play with him and then she gets annoyed and tries to hide by my wife. I just want to make sure that we do everything the correct way. In saying that I know there will be hiccups. Any advice or information would be great. Thanks the puppy will be going to puppy school from next week as well.

  • we brought a puppy into our house 4 months ago ,a mini. I have 2 other dogs a 10 yr old hound and pit mix and a 9 year old pit. It is a process and if you want it to stick its a slow process. The puppy is never left alone with the other dogs unless crated. When she is out they are always supervised although after 4 months that has relaxed some . In the beginning and to this day walks together help the most. One of my dogs the 10yr old wants very little to do with the puppy most of the time in the beginning it was all of the time and then there is the 9 year old who acts like a puppy and they play all the time "rough play " . Good Luck ! Post pics
  • We have an 8yr old staffordshire bitch who has lived with a previous dog but unsocial with other dogs when out. When we brought our male bully pup home it was constant supervision, giving her space and time to come around and plenty of treats for good behaviour around the pup. As Corey said once we started walking them together it really helped them bond. We thought she would never come around but after three was one day just started playing with him in the garden and been inseparable since. Good luck keep us posted
