Obsession with certian toys
Help... I think 9 month old Mackenzie has OCD . She is a rescue we got at 5 mon.
When we first got her she came home with a tennis ball the rescue said she loved it .I realized day one she loved it so much she did not care about anyone or anything else so we threw it away and went out and got rope balls ,rope toys and a Frisbee . Here is issue she will destroy and consume all her toys ,the ropes last the longest . She was great with the Frisbee until last week now it is her new obsession .Its great because it helps her to expend energy but she does not want to stop and once you do take it away she will try to get it back any way she can . So the question is do I take this away as well ? PS she is also a tail chaser/spinner we have been working on breaking this habit for 4 months and although she has days where she does it less she does do it every day

One thing we try to do when she is in destruction mode is to reinforce her "off" command (leave it/drop it/whatever you use) and reward her every single.time she listens, either with a treat, a pat, verbal praise, etc. I know your dogs situation and background is different but that is what we try.
Also, I keep things around that I let her destroy at times...milk jug, cardboard box, empty yogurt container. Of course she has to be closely monitored and they have to be taken away after a bit, but she thoroughly enjoys destroying them.
Good luck and I am glad to hear you have had some progress with the tail spinning! That is good news
