Nose to leg

I love my bullie, but I am struggling with her 'needyness'. She walks nose to my leg everywhere at every moment she can. When I want to go to the toilet in peace, I'll shut the door, and she slumps on the other side until I open it. I'm constantly tripping in her in the kitchen, and she curls around my leg asleep while I work in the office. Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh!!!!!

  • Haha my girl does this too! If I ignore her too long she goes in her crate and pouts. Everytime I turn around she will give me the stink eye! She is constantly poking me with her nose or a toy :) I do try to make sure that when she is constantly "in my way" that I walk through her and not around her hoping to teach her that she needs to clear out of my way...however I can't say that has helped too much yet...she doesn't seem to mind being kneed in the side of the head or stepped on haha

That's because Bull Terriers don't really care if someone bumps into them or lays down on them. :)

It is definitely true that this behavior is absolutely normal for Bull Terriers because they are very physical with humans and one another. I don't think that it is pure affection. It's partly just how they are, part of it surely is affection and another part can be to control other individuals.

Shoving them out of the way can have an educational effect over time. Only, just as many other methods, it takes a while because doggie needs to experience a certain string of events a number of times before it is able to connect the dots.
Another way is to teach them certain commands and use some organizational tricks or rituals.
For example, establishing a command to send the dog a few feet away is VERY helpful in the kitchen, a command to make doggie leave things alone in the kitchen, a stay command - all great helpers.
Also, I have very good experience with assigning a certain place to my dog in the kitchen and then ONLY feeding her in that particular space and nowhere else in the kitchen.
It actually worked pretty well until I ruined it by being inconsistent and starting to feed her kitchen scraps in other corners of the kitchen. But that one's on me.
Before, she actually ran to her assigned spot and sat down tight right there when she expected to get something.
  • Love the video! When I get down on the floor that is exactly what my girl does to me ???? it is hilarious how "cat-like" she is at times
I am realizing very quickly how right you are about EBT's not minding being bumped into! She seems to actually love it ????
  • LOVE the video they are such cartoons
  • Solid and good looking bullies!
