She looks a little like a white female we had named Bannon except with a little narrower and longer muzzle than Bannon. Bannon's dad was "Penbray's Play to the Devil" UKC multi champion. She produced some fabulous puppies. Bannon is now retired and lives in Virginia with a couple who is spoiling her to death. But she deserves it!

Again, having to provide a puppy for the cost of stud service is expensive let alone 2 puppies! Think about it like this, the cost of stud service varies depending on the breeder as well as their bloodlines. We charge $800 for stud service which is guaranteed for pregnancy or a full refund is provided. $800 would not be the price of a puppy from our bloodlines. If a puppy sells for $1600 - $2000 then in reality that's what you're paying for stud service if your giving away a puppy for the fee of stud service. In your case you're paying twice that with an added current puppy provided to you that he wasn't able to sell after it was born. That's a heck of a cost for stud service and let's face it, the grueling task of allowing his stud to mate with your female may not be consistered that demanding on his end.
The breeders explanation of having Ellie AI'd because that's what HE"S more comfortable with makes no sense. Sounds to me as though Ellie may not be a bonified stud with the abilities to naturally tie. What's his registration number and I'll look up his stud service records. There's lots of nice looking male Bull Terriers out there but few proven studs. AI is a great method to utilize for breeding but it's a secondary method used for breeding when the primary means (natural) can't be conducted.
If you're really interested in his current puppy a better suited deal for breeding would be to pay him an appropriate amount for stud service and trade him a puppy from your expected litter for his current puppy he has available. This way you'd be doing a one for one puppy exchange, which would be fair, and providing him a stud fee which wouldn't nearly be the cost of one of your puppies.
Something to think about. :-B
