Pinkness to skin tone

My dog's skin tone is usually slightly pale and I've noticed "randomly" some parts of his body, particularly his nose/head, turns a bright pink/red color. I'm beginning to think it may be allergies, but I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what is causing it because of the "randomness" I described. It seems to happen more often when I bring him outside. I know they are not the most heat tolerant breed and with it being June in Alabama it is especially hot. Does anyone else's dog's skin acquire a pink tint to it when brought outside? I just brought him outside and his nose was BRIGHT pink and after 10 minutes of being back inside his skin turned back to the pale color. I can't figure out if this is being caused from some kind of allergy or just from the heat? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! 

Also, I've attached a picture so it's more obvious as to where I am talking about the color appearing... His nose/head...

I'm sure you have already thought of this but dogs can get sun burn . Could it possibly be this ? My last dog once got a sunburnt muzzle due to basking in the garden on a very hot sunny day  - quite a rarity in England! I can't remember the brand of sunscreen I used it was a kids one the vet had recommended BUT always consult your vet first ( besides I don't know which brands are available or safe in the US of A ) . My aunts American bulldog also uses sunscreen on his nose and chops

I have made my answer another blog post about the question, if dogs can get sunburn this time to avoid flooding this discussions here with another one of "my books"  )

Just real quick here:

Red noses can also be caused by elevated blood circulation through excitement or exercise.

If you suspect sunburn and plan to use sunscreen for humans avoid those containing zinc!
