(Josh created an email vice "starting a New Discussion" so I copied and pasted his message for him)

From JL2KOcancer:

Hello my name is Josh from Evansville, IN. I was introdued to this site from somebody(Todd) that I had emailed about a BT pup he was selling. Im currently looking for a resue puppy or young BT rescue that would fit my family. Meaning...a special needs or maybe a deaf puppy or a young BT rescue that is good with kids and needs a loving home. Ive looked into a few rescue sites but none of them have responded to my emails. Ive emailed a breeder that is in Indiana and no response. Im hoping that Im able to get some guidance here.
A little about myself...Im 33 & happily married with 3 great kids(ages 9,3&2). My wife is a stay home mom. Our kids are all good with different types of animals. I myself have always wanted a BT or MBT. I just love their goofiness and also that therye good with kids. But I havent really pursued in getting a BT until this past year, when our 3yr old daughter had cancer called Neuroblastoma causing her to have a disease called OMS. But we have been blessed that God has his arms wrapped around her & our little girl no longer has the cancer and currently getting better by the day with the OMS. Its been a stressful year for us(but getting better). So we have been wanting to a dog for awhile but didnt have the time until recently. So we thought bringing a BT into our family would be very therapuetic for us. But purchasing a BT is probably out our price as of right now. So thats when I thought a special needs pup or young BT. It would be great to bring in a special needs BT. So, if to anybody has any info on where, how or who to talk to about adopting a special needs BT, please email at lanejville@yahoo.com or send your personal thoughts. Thanks

  • Josh- try petfinder.com you can sign up for email alerts when a bull terrier becomes available in your area just be cautious of the temperment. Also have you thought of a pit bull?? These are nicknamed the nanny dog and are also a wonderful choice for a family and are at a fraction if any of the cost. I wish you luck!!!!
Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.
  • Thanks Leslie I appreciate your info & your knowledge. I have looked looed on petfinder and also into a pit bull. But I guess I just have my heart set on a BT. I did see a puppy BT thats deaf and they wanted $400(which was fine) but lived in Seattle. I live in IN and hoped to find one within driving distance. I dont mind driving a few hundred miles or so. Thanks again
  • Josh I dont blame you for having your heart set on a bt I did too after my pit died after 15 years, of bone cancer, she is missed. Pits are truly wonderful companions and great dogs but I get it cause i swore If I ever let myself get another dog it was going to be a bull terrier!! Or a bull dog I do love all my bully breeds!!! Petfinder will sent you emails if you sign up for their alerts but I got 3 alerts in the span of 1 yr. Or so so it would be a waiting game might pay off though. I got both mine from an indiana/michigan breeder called Aegean bull terriers but but had trouble with my female being incontinent and them not willing to help to make a long story short and my male with spinning issues the rest of his issues were my fault but we worked thru them and hes wonderful now!!! I wouldnt recommend them per say but they will sometimes have a dog they show that they retired for sale again not a pup though or one they never sold and is an older pup but beware of issues with their dogs they are about the money!! Hope this helps not that I would like to bring them buisness. Proceed with caution maybe they have gotten better and learned something over the last few years they have nice looking dogs though. I am sorry to hear about your child very sad. Hopefully you are successful in finding a bt they are wonderful you and your family wont regret it!!!

  • Thanks again Leslie...i tried emailing that breeder a few weeks ago and theyve never emailed me back. Yea i think i will sign for those alerts. It couldnt hurt.
Sorry to hear about your pit that had cancer. I know that was hard to deal with?! Thanks for askin about my little girl...its been a rough 13months. Although doctors think shes getting close to being in remission. I cant wait for that day. Cant wait to see her laughing & playin with our new bully too...whenever that may be. And Im sure we wont regret it either.
  • Try calling Mike I have his number if you need it. Kelly is usually good at returning emails but they have a young son so I can imagine shes busy!! I will say a prayer for your little one. Unfortunately bts are rare in this area and can be difficult to find I hope you are successful soon as dogs are great therapy and make great pals for our little ones and us too!!! One thing about bullies is their loyalty is amazing....

  • Hi, I got my 5 year old brindle from the florida bull terrier rescue association...he was 18 months then. He is the best...perfect personality, allowed me 2 1/2 year old grandson climb on him like a horse. The bull terrier group did a wonderful job with health checks and training. I actually found my 11 month old bull terrier on craigslist; i suspect the family had training issues although they would not say that. She is doing well with us; loves children and is so sweet. So i do recommend rescues highly...for the brindle we drove to orlando (about 7 hours).
