Switching puppy foods

I have an 9 week old male. The breeder included some royal canin medium starter with the pup. I fed him the last I had of it this morning and went to petsmart to get some more. I went to 2 different petsmart and neither had it. Petco said they discontiued carrying it.

I have TOTW puppy high prarie.

How bad would it be to switch straight from royal canin to TOTW puppy?

From the looks of royal canin starter, I shouldnt run it much longer anyways right?

Your puppy will do fine with switching to TOTW. Often people end up switching puppy foods due to the specific dogs eating habits and likes and dislikes. TOTW is a very good puppy food. Royal Canin is also. However, if you can't find it than TOTW or Blue Buffalo Wilderness would be excellent alternatives.

I don't think your puppy will have any dilemna starting on a new food especially TOTW. :D

  • Great, I was just concerned with upsetting his belly. I understand switching foods can upset their stomachs and cause diarrhea.

    Thanks!

Sometimes that can upset the stomach. Many times it depends on the individual dog as well as the foods. If you have any concerns you could always gradually introduce him to a new food by mixing both foods for a while and slowly add more of the new food. However, I really don't think you'll have any issues.
