New puppy

edited February 2014 in Bull Terrier Character
I am introducing a new bully puppy to the family. How can I make sure my 4 year old bully doesn't bite the new addition? Is there any signs I should look out for. I don't want to seperate them as they are going to have live togther.

A puppy won't show dominance or aggression and therfor pose no reason for your older Bull Terrier to attack or harm him/her. Your older Bull Terrier will realize the new dog is just a puppy. Yes, the puppy will most likely bother the heck out of the adult dog by constantly wanting to play and wrestle. In the event your older Bull Terrier feels as though the puppy is getting out of line he may snap at the puppy or pin the puppy to the ground. This isn't done to hurt the puppy but more so to teach the puppy that what he's doing is wrong. It always lets the puppy know he's not the alpha.
I would just keep an eye on them both because sometimes an older Bull Terrier will want to play with the puppy as well and can often unknowingly be a little too rough. Many people have brought in a puppy to their families where an adult Bull Terrier is already present and it's very rare you'll ever hear the two BT's couldn't get along. Bringing in an adult BT is a different story but puppies most often fit right in and the two become best friends.
