  • What you should be doing right now is , make al ist of all the things you dont want him to do as an adult

(chewing you furniture, your things, nipping while playing, jumping up on people, begging, grabbing things from your hands, getting on furniture, sleeping on the bed ect)

and then, make sure you reinforce to your new puppy from day one, that htose behaviors are unacceptible.

most puppy behaviors are never "outgrown" like many people will try to tell you such as puppy mouthing-if you allow your puppy to mouth you in play, he WILL do it as an adult, he wont simply stop doing it because he got larger.

look up NILF training on google (have a look at a few websites talking about NILF training) and FOLLOW IT! that is the best training for a young bully, i started my girl Chimera from the second i had her while still at the breeders house! i would not elt her mouth me while sitting and talking with the breeder before bringing her home lol.

if you ever buy a puppy training.rearing book i HIGHLY suggest Cesar Millans "how to raise the perfect dog:from puppyhood and beyond"

    its an excellent book!

  • Thanks alot ima look that up.... I was reading some of the posts and what food should i go with tase of the wild or Royal canin?

    Chico, Welcome to the Forum.

Hopefully the breeder you are getting your puppy from spends enough time with you during the time of puppy pickup that he or she answers every question or concern you have as well as provides you with an abundance of other information. Most breeders will also provide you with an AKC Puppy package that has plenty of information for new puppy owners. I'm a little surprised they haven't already answered all these questions as well provided you with the confidence to call them with all questions.

You will want to know what puppy food the breeder had the litter on. It's usually a good idea to continue to utilize that puppy food for a while. In the event you wish to change the diet of your puppy just make sure he is eating well, healthy, and settled in at his new residence with you and your family.

I would recommend purchasing a kennel that he can be kept in at night or during short briefs during the day where he may be left alone. Puppies can get into mischief quickly and require constant supervision.

Once you have your puppy at home contact your local Vet to setup an appointment for a health check. Bring with you your puppies health records that your breeder provides you with so they can validate appropriate vaccinations that were conducted when he was 6 weeks old and received his first set of shots. Your Vet may also schedule his next appointment for his 2nd set of vaccinations which is usually when he is 10 weeks of age. If your puppy has not been microchipped this would be a good time to have your Vet do it for you.

I highly recommend filling out his registration papers and sending them in to have the puppy registered in your name. Start a folder for your puppy and retain all documents in a safe place.

There are many good books on Bull Terriers that will provide you with a wealth of knowledge. There are many good websites too.

In the event you have any questions or concerns you are always welcome to post them on this Forum and you'll be sure to see many people who will be happy to answer your questions.

There's nothing wrong with that. :-bd

Good luck with him. When you get the chance, post a couple pictures of him on this forum so we can all see him. Where did you get him from?
