This has been a Big Deal for us...

edited November 2013 in General
As many of you know our family has a huge Christmas/New Years vacation planned. We are visiting my wife's home country of Honduras. A week on the island SCUBA diving then the rest of the time in the mountains of the rain forest outside of my wife's hometown. Logistically planning the trip has not been that much of a challenge. The challenge was figuring out what to do with Maya during our absence. Since she came to us there hasn't been more than 3-4 hours in a day that she has not been with at least one of us.

I originally had planned to board her. But that option just did not sit well with anyone in the family, least of all me. Then, I contacted some professional pet sitters in the area....a better option....but she would still be in the home alone for extended periods.

And my wife and baby girl come to the rescue. Lizzie's best friend Madison has agreed to stay at our home the entire time while we are gone. Maya and Bear will both receive the best of care and each of them love Madison! To say this was a big burden off our shoulders would be an understatement. And although we will hate being away from her, we now know that she will be accompanied by her best buddy Bear, and Madison will be there the entire time to care for both of them.

That worked out perfectly! Now you just got to hope Madison doesn't decide to have a huge party at the house while your gone! >:)

  • Three Words....Wireless Internet Cameras. Naw...she is a good girl and we've known her for years. LOL...and if she does...I'm sure Maya and Bear will be the life of the party!
  • Perfect solution for your dogs!  I would never board.  That is a very big deal when planning a trip.  I have a Nephew that lives next door.  He has been a blessing for us, and he loves our dogs.  Although he was a little intimadated by Claxxton when we first got him.  He had to bring his 8 year old Daughter the first time to feed him.  lol.  Claxxton will growl at men, until they are friendly.

Have a great trip!  I loved scuba diving!

  • Thanks Diane....been certified since 1979 and spent 5 years as a Commercial Diver in the oil fields. This trip my baby girl, Lizzie, is gonna get certified. How cool it will be to dive with my daughter! Especially in Roatan. Southernmost tip of the second largest barrier reef in the world.
