  • Thor, I posted the same thing after we got Apollo. It seemed like he found every frickin stick and would chew on it. I was scared he'd have splinters in his poopy! He still tries to eat them. For the most part now it's like a trophy! He seems so proud when he find a big huge stick, struts around with it in his mouth like I'm gonna let him bring it inside! LOL! I was assured it would be OK, and Apollo is still alive and well. No splinters in the bum. My son keeps all the sticks picked up too. So that's a big help!

Not only sticks, Traylor just ate water bottle!  I thought he'd play and chew on it but when I checked the kennel, there was nothing left of the bottle except a few chewed up pieces.
Rest assure, I won't let him near another water bottle =; .
  • Yikes! Can he pass that ok? Bull terrier are like tiger sharks! They eat anything! I have a hard time finding toys that he can't destroy. Got one the other day from Marshall's that feels like a hockey puck. It's still whole so that's a good sign!
  • Stoeger will eat toothpicks if he finds them. We have fished more than a few out of his mouth. He also chewed on one of our window sills... We nipped that in the bud, put a quick end to that becoming a habit!

As for water bottles, Stoge loves them as well. At least he did when he was younger. He has lost interest in them lately... We used to take the cap off and let him play with it while supervised, once it was showing a little wear, we'd take it away from him.

I think it was the crackling sound of the plastic that intrigued him.
  • I will stick a treat in a coffee mate bottle. It's thicker and lasts longer while they chew, bite and push it around the floor. Cut the label off first though. Tons of fun!

Last night during his last potty call right before bedtime he threw-up liquid a couple of times.  I kept a close eye on him thru-out the night.  This mornings potty call, he acted normal and afterwards ate all his morning meal as usual so hopefully he'll be okay.  He's in his kennel now playing with his toys but I'll keep an eye on him thru-out the day.

  • Lol ok see Thor does all the same stuff and its crazy how all bull terriers have something in common own personalities but actions are the same from what I see and yea iv given up on taking sticks from him and even found a hunck of wood he loves it I cleaned it up and supervise him while chewing on it... and dont get started with bottles he loves them... gotta love the free stuff you can entertain them with lol
  • Received an email from Brandy yesterday.  She purchased our Willie's pup.  Seems Ritzler ate sticks, yarn, etc.  Ritzler died on the table.  :-((
  • I'm sorry to hear this Diane:(
Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.
  • I'm sorry for your loss. Yarn seems harmless, but it is one of the worse things a dog can eat. Always be careful if you allow your dogs to play with knotted tugs, the string if digested is a nightmare.
  • I'm sorry for your loss Diane. It's a shame that happened knowing we have to take full responsibility for it and it can break our hearts that easily.

The stick eating or as I like to say all the things they eat will be work in progress. Spud still will try to chew items at this point and avoids eating it now at close to nine months. He fully understands that some things aren't edible and has thrown up items in the past.

Constant supervision with a firm hand and patience will do the trick.

    Condolences on your loss.

Speaking of eating...I was gone most of the day so the wife
had the Trayler watch.  Got home about 4 pm and Trayler was so happy to
see me.  After playing with him about half an hour, he went straight to
the washroom and ate all his kibble.  That's when the wife told me that he
didn't eat all day and was lethargic not even wanting to chase the ball, which
he loves.  So after eating, I tossed the
ball for him for about a half hour until he was tired.  Gosh, hope this is not going to happen every
time I’m gone for the day.

  • Seon....our Lab, Buster will not eat when we leave.  Soon as we come home he eats like a pig.

Thanks for all the condolances....really feel bad for Brandy.  She said she recently had to put down her older BT.  Sometimes bad things comes at ya all at once.  We are going to try to help her.
