Eye Infection???

Hey everyone. Our little guy's right eye seems to be irritated. @-)

His third eye-lid is red and he is squinting, blinking it more than the left eye. ;;)

There doesn't seem to be any gunk in it.

We plan to have the vet take a peek at it when we bring him in for his micro-chip next week.

Any suggestions for treatment in the meantime or educated guesses/diagnosis???

Are his eye lashes inverted and rubbing the eye? That would be my only guess other then maybe something got in it. I would suggest a nice warm bath and try to wash the eye out, plus hugs and kisses. Hope everything is ok!

Can you use human eye wash on dogs?

That night I was cooking peppers and onions and I believe the smell may have irritated his eyes. They seem fine now! I did clean it out anyway, just in case.

He has a habit of sitting on the floor in the kitchen, looking up, while you cook at the stove.

Probably got some onion juice in his eye when you tossed the onions in the skillet!?!?

I would flush with water or saline. I would think eye drops are just saline but read the label just to be safe glad he's ok!!!

Thanks Leslie, we did rinse it out with water that night.

Stoge will be getting his micro-chip Thursday, we will have the vet take a quick look while he's there.
