Bull Terrier Pedigree Research

I don't know if many of you are like and enjoy researching Bull Terrier bloodlines and pedigrees. Years ago it was difficult to view a 4 generation pedigree and have familiarity with certain bloodlines unless the kennel affiliated name was being heard at shows or their reputation was well known. Obviously reputation and popularity varied from country to country since many bloodlines outside an individuals own country most likely were never heard of. In reality if you were looking for a puppy you'd probably be thumbing through the adds in the back of Dog Fancy magazine or looking for adds in your local paper.
The internet has changed life completely and provided people with boundless research potential on any subject. Now a days many owners of all breeds are uploading their dogs pedigree information on popular websites that retain information on every dog that has been registered to their pedigree database. Some of them are extremely impressive as they depict an array of information to include photos, titles, awards, offspring, siblings, inbreeding, country of origin, height and weights, color, date of birth, etc. Another nice feature is the databases aren't limited to 3,4, or 5 generations. They will go back as far as possible provided data is documented. I can just imagine what it will be like looking at pedigrees in 20 years when people will be saying "Here's a look at my dogs 10 generation Pedigree."
My personal preference in regard to Pedigree databases is the Standard Bull Terrier World Pedigree DataBase. Many of the bloodlines that initiated our foundation came from England and this particular Pedigree Database holds a large volume of information on bloodlines from the UK. One of our females, "Bannon" (now retired), came from Penbray's in England and when I entered Bannon's information into the database it automatically entered her entire pedigree which provided me with photos and info of her ancestors. It's apparent other countries have been using this database for quite a few years due to the documentation that goes back many generations. With our Stud "Nitro" all I did was enter his registration name in order to make a new entry and when I entered his sire and dam his entire pedigree came up going back 9 generations to include photos of the dogs. "Lucian" has champion bloodlines that go back to Canada, Hungary, and Germany and it was nice to be able to see photo's of these Bull Terriers that I couldn't find anywhere else.
The database allows you to conduct updates by adding photos and information. I noticed Lionhearts bloodlines weren't documented when I went to enter "Buck's" information into the database so I ended up gathering what photos and information I had in order to make a more complete pedigree. Now that I have done so, all offspring sired by Buck, like "Rocky" or "Sooner", becomes a breeze to update into the database and automatically generate an accurate pedigree filled with photos and info.
I encourage you to try it out. The database is user friendly and if your Bullie comes from reputable bloodlines you'll most likely find a plethora of pedigree data already on his or her ancestors.

I just did a few minutes of research and found a few more of Stoeger's family's tree branches.
Sinabar, Action & Bullyrooks lines are in his pedigree and documented on that site!
This weekend I'm gonna sit down and register on there.
Thanks for directing me there Steve, this is gonna be some interesting research!!!
He has quite an interesting and impressive lineage.
It's easy to see how the info on that site can grow exponentially.
I plugged in pedigree info for Stoeger and quite a few dogs in his pedigree and the dots are connecting.
I even took the time to add photos I had already found and more I dug up on the net.
Once again, very cool Steve, thanks again!

I saw that the akc is putting on a puppy show for puppies between 4 and 6 month olds in nov. And I'm hoping he will show some good signs that he is ready! Even if he isn't ready to enter I believe it'll be good to just go and see, although they said that he could receive points at this show! We will see!
Further back Stoeger also has Kilacabar, Taylor, Ghabar and SOUPERLATIVE!!!
It was very interesting seeing Souperlative in his bloodline (through Ghabar Bullies) especially after reading about how important that line was in creating today's Bull Terrier here in the USA.
Just too cool. I can't say thanks enough for turning me on to this.
Heck if anybody on the forum has their pup's pedigree and they want me to research their lines, I'm all for it!
Get in touch with me and I'll gladly get to work on it.
Banbury, Bullyrook and some more Action showed up in his lines.

You may want to create the pedigree by adding info and photos like Stoeger did. He was able to put together a detailed pedigree by adding photos he found through internet research. Yours would be just as easy.

It's been a lot of fun finding the missing links. The whole point of that website is to upload the info.
I've uploaded about 60 dogs to the website already. Many with photos. It takes some time to make sure, cross-check, double-check, finding definitive info on each dog but that's the fun.
If you run into any dead ends, lemme know Leslie, I'll try to help if I can.
I worked on Stoeger's Banbury lines last night.

Ya, Rufus shows up on several pedigrees. He was studded out many times. I'd say he's probably the most popular and decorated Bull Terrier of all time.

I'm even more happy with this thread now, very cool.

The research online to connect the dots between dogs and finding pics is the time consuming part. I've added 401 dogs to the Ingrus.net database tracing Stoge's lineage.
I have a resource that is great for finding dogs born year 2000 and older all the way back to Hink's Puss and the original Bulldog used Madman.
If you want to hook me up with a pic of the pedigree of one of your dogs I can string a few dogs together for you.
It's funny, a lot of my research into Stoeger's pedigree actually helped fill in a bit of Steve's dogs' info on Ingrus.net Some of his dogs share Lionheart blood with our pup thorough his stud Buck.

I think you have complete four gens for each dog but past that a lot of missed connections.
A few did get plugged with some of the dogs I added to the database B-)

Past that is what was interesting to me and a lot of fun to research.
I don't blame you for not doing nine gens on all of your dogs, you have so many Bullies it would take FOREVER!!
I'm still working on filling in the pics. That's gonna take a while!
