110 pound bull terrier?
On my face book this came up as a bull terrier in another country weighing in at 110 pounds! I find it hard to believe but if so, is that too big? Or does he just look very over weight?

Im not a big fan of massive bullies such as this guy, hes lovely, but i perfer smaller bullies, not necessarily smaller build, but i like males between 50-60 pounds.
i like a wide range of body types in bullies, my favorite being "bull type" bullies i like bullies who are proportioned, small headed dogs who are thick bodied look so bad or thick headed dogs kept thin again, not my idea of a nice looking dog. if Chimera is going to have a thinner build i donot intend on bulking her up as i think it would simply look terrible.
Nothing wrong with liking them skinny, I guess . Most people don't but everybody has their preferences. Once upon a time all Bull Terriers were small figured and athletic looking. Times have changed and it's become apparent that popularity has the EBT evolving into a heavier set breed and it's evident the show circuit welcomes this look and build. However, it isn't uncommon to see the smaller and less muscular build Bullies through small scaled clubs like CKC. Usually these are the long, straight nosed, EBT's with small heads and narrow muzzles.
I agree, there should be a more defined standard in regard to weight and height. Otherwise people will continue to breed toward the popularity of what seems to gather attention at the shows.

Well until there are strict standards in regard to height and weight people are going to breed toward their preferences and chances are aim their goals towards the majority vote. Currently it's not with the skinny, old school, athletic look. I think most who are looking for the smaller and lighter look of the EBT usually look into the breed called "Miniature Bull Terrier."
Ideally, AKC should put out a standard and base it on the current consensus amongst what is currently being looked at as the epidemy of the today's true Bull Terrier. What structure and conformation would gain more points at a show - the smaller 50 pound EBT or the more muscular 65 pound EBT with correct bone matter and structure to match his weight? I guess that would be up to the judges. But let's face it, many people disagree with the show winning dog and it will always be that way because it always boils down to personal preference.
