Weepy eyes

Our 5 mth old EBT has had weepy eyes for about 2 weeks now. Looked like getting better a few times but does not seem to completely go away. She gets quite gross yellowish eye snot and scabby like around her eyes..any advice?

Hi there,

It looks like she may have an infection.

I would be inclined to take her to see the vet.

Mine had a similar issue for a few months when I first got her. I rinsed her eyes a few times per day with salt water which resolved the issue.

She looks like her eyes are extra sensitive based on the color alone. Her eyes appear blue from the photo. Is this correct? Normally Bull Terriers have very dark colored eyes. She may be having season allergies and due to the genetics of her eye color they may be more prone to sensitivity.

Wow, of you look at the profile picture the. Eyes do look bright blue. I've never seen this. Is this s breed standard? Looks awesome but would have to increase sensitivity at least to sun exposure due to a lack of melanin.

Blue eyes are an genetic fault. Disqualification if shown in a conformation event.

Sorry jbird did not mean the smiley face. She may have a few flaws such as being deaf and 1 blue eye however she has the most beautiful nature

You may find out that there are a few more things genetically wrong with her as time goes and she matures. Based on the genetics which cause deafness and blue eyes I think it would be fair to say the breeder didn't have much care in regard to what they were breeding and the actual health and genetics of the sire and dam.

Right now you have an additional concern in regard to her red watery eyes. I would have her looked at by a Vet to ensure her condition doesn't require medication.

It's hard for me to tell from the photo but her eye lid appears to be turning in on the corner of her eye. This is a condition called entropion. It is also a genetic disorder. Your Vet will be able to tell you what is causing the epiphora.
